The Cooperative Difference

  • Community Responsibilities

To ensure the smooth operation of the school and provide our children with memorable events for years to come, families within the CCNS community participate in three commitments during the school year. Single parent families fulfill only two commitments. (Those enrolled solely in the Wee Play & Learn or Kindergarten Enrichment programs are not required to fulfill any commitment.) We welcome and encourage parental involvement throughout the year in our classrooms. However, there is no in-class volunteer commitment at CCNS.

    - Service on the Board or a Committee: The Board of Officers and Trustees is the policy making body of CCNS. Committee members plan special events and provide support services.

    - Participation in one Fundraising Event : Provide support (typically on-site) during one of the many fundraising events held during the year.

    - Participation in one Scrub-up:
Held periodically throughout the year to sanitize toys and materials in the classrooms. There is an option to pay a fee and opt out of the Scrub-up.

Our foundation rests on the belief that education is a collaborative process between the parents, teachers and children. Without the extensive commitment parents make to CCNS – providing love, support, expertise and time – the school as we know it would not exist. When your child begins his or her education in our little red schoolhouse, you are committing to take an active role in their preschool experience. This is what we call the Cooperative Difference.

To be present and participate in your child’s education is a unique opportunity we embrace with great pride. Whether attending celebrations in the classroom, assisting with special projects, or reading a story to the class, it’s enlightening to see such joy on the children’s faces when their parents are involved. It’s the Cooperative Difference. We welcome and encourage parental involvement throughout the year in our classrooms. However, there is no in-class volunteer commitment at CCNS.

Testimonials From Enrolled Families

“We have been pleasantly surprised by how much we’ve loved the PM Pre-K program! With an older child in elementary school, the usual morning chaos has turned into a more relaxed start to the day now that our preschooler goes in at noon. This year there have been many positives attached to the PM program such as offering lunch and longer hours, which were huge draws for us. While we were initially hesitant to place our daughter in a PM versus AM program due to our work schedules, I am genuinely thrilled with our decision and feel she is exactly where she is meant to be.”

“Our family has been part of CCNS for almost five years, and we absolutely love it. This year, our son enrolled in the PM Pre-K class, and it has been the perfect fit for him. The afternoon schedule made his transition so smooth—he adores his teachers, and the timing works wonderfully for our family. We get to enjoy our mornings together, and he heads to school for lunch and the afternoon, which has been ideal for his energy and routine. We couldn’t be happier and highly recommend the PM Pre-K program!”
